Laurent Nicolas trained as designer specializing in ceramics in Paris at Olivier de Serres design school. From early on, his work has been characterized by a curiosity towards materials and exploration of various techniques to guide his creative process.
Following his diploma in Applied Arts at the renowned Duperré School of Art, changing scale from ceramics to larger objects and space, Laurent expanded his creative output to include furniture design and various interior design projects.
Parallel to these activities, Laurent has designed luxury leather-goods for the past ten years which has enabled him to further expand his knowledge in material development and traditional craftsmanship. With his varied and rich design background, his work is best described by an absolute focus on details and finishings throughout all his design projects.
Alongside these commercial projects, Laurent is today expanding his explorations to more abstract themes and one-off pieces, working with natural stone, clay and wood. With these installations and sculptures he is questioning nature’s role and force in our lives and the passing of time.
